By the Little Train, you’re starting from the Narbonnaise Gate (western gate), before the drawbridge, for making a complete tour of the Cité of Carcassonne. A wonderful and complete Historic Tour!
Stone by stone, tower after tower, on a circuit which only the Little Train is authorized to present, you will discover the medieval city of Carcassonne by her outside. It’s the most beautiful but also the most warrior side !
From the Roman Lower Empire to the Middle Ages and until the restoration by Viollet Le Duc in the 19th century, nothing is left to chance in this wonderful visit with commentary, which will reveal the two speakers fortified towers, and all works which characterized the medieval military architecture : such as “watchtowers”, “the barbicans”, “machicolations” and so on... All this, can be observed only from outside on the circuit of the Little Train.
Before beginning the descent of the hill “Pavée”, you will discover all defensive Aude Gate, only pedestrian access to the City, strategic point of the baileys. You will then admire the majestic west front, which, in this grandiose setting, is fired each year on the evening of 14th July, the famous “fireworks” of Carcassonne.
This is the highlight of the visit and the perfect time to immortalize: left side view of new Town in all its extent; right side, panoramic view of the monumental front West!
In the cobbled pathway and up to the right, you contemplate its treasures: the Inquisition Gallery, the Castle, the Big Chatelet, Pinte Tower and his legend.
